Yeap, the game is incredibly stale and apparently Anet doesn't care. I was fairly sure there was meant to be an update this month, but unless they do some huge changes that aren't incredibly stupid then things are going to stay the same. L4D2 out tomorrow though so something to look foward too.

Ummmm welcome to this concept called metagame.
Seriously, those builds (based on professions) don't even look gimmicky or FOTM. That is just meta.

There's really no reason to run any other build atm on frozen, hence people running that one. The meta is retardedly stale right now due to half a dozen factors, several of which aren't likely ever going to change. It's probably going to stay this way, so you'd better get used to it.

Why do people find mirror matches boring? The particular build in question is pretty unfun, but why is it that you immediately associate mirror with boring? A great deal of the most intense, fun matches I've played have been mirrors, where people don't have buildwars as an excuse to hide behind. If you're playing a direct mirror, then map irregularities aside, you have to simply outplay your opponent to win.

Lack of large and significant skill balances brings about a lack of interesting PvP. It's been this way for a while now.

You guys are dumb. These builds are the least boring builds I've seen in a long time. Honor balance vs honor balance, match of the best. I'm sick of the real gimmicks, hexway, rspike, ranger assassins etc.

updates every 2 months means you get to watch the same builds for longer and imba builds (there aren't any that are too bad atm) last longer.
My advice is stop observing anything but mAT finals and start gvging, or look for how one guild lost when their builds are the same.

I disagree! Watching two evenly matched teams running nearly the same build is usually an all-out slugfest. This isn't gimmicky crud, as others have said, it's just the best builds built to win given the certain circumstances. Sure, people play for fun... but people usually play to win, and you bring what you can to achieve that goal.
There hasn't been a balance in a while, and things will get jiggled around a bit once we do.

Where have you been? Teams have been running a (changing) meta build for years. Although I agree with Dreamwind the meta is particularly crummy now. But that doesn't mean people were not running the EXACT same thing all the time a few years ago either.

This.
I find it hilarious that [Dii] member compared running 'ballanced' PvP team build in most ballanced way (mirror match) to PvE farming shits. Are you really so insecure about PvEing?

yeah, i love watching 2 balanced go head to head. The only boringness in that match is if you're flagging for it.

Dead game is... D. E. A. D.
This build has been used for months and months, yet you haven't seen an interesting match in "a long time?"
You can only observe so-called "high-end PvP" so much before it becomes utterly gawd awful and a pain to endure.
Being the best in a dead game? Really? That's like a group of gym class fat kids that can't climb rope, but being the only one to at least be able to pick up his feet and support his own weight for a few seconds before collapsing to the floor.
You are still an obese fat kid. Congrats.
FFS.. Flip a coin, nobody cares about the outcome of PvP of a dead game.
And sitting there "watching" the outcome of OTHER people play PvP in a low populated game with an unchanged meta is even more pathetic.
You have now officially become the fat kid with the doctor's note stating that you cannot participate in gym class because strenuous activity might kill you.
